I ran for public office in the year 2017 for the position of Town Councilman in the town of Brookhaven, NY. Although I did not win the election, I did learn a lot about local government and politics, how much I hate knocking on hundreds and hundreds of doors in the terrible summer heat, and how to write and give a pretty good speech (even if it is about “walkable downtowns” and “transit-oriented development”).

The site was built with a custom Wordpress theme in order to make it easier for my campaign staff to maintain/update it as well as a Paypal integration in order to accept campaign donations. Please forgive the slightly pandering “About Mike” section: on Long Island the demographic reality requires the front-and-center touting of certain aspects of oneself that may not be particularly central to one’s identity.
