One of the many, many perks of dating my girlfriend is that I get to learn new and interesting things about the television and film industry, in which she is involved. Way back in 2015, for her senior project in film school, she was tasked with raising money for and creating a short student film. We brainstormed the idea for If He Shall Hear Thee on a road trip and then wrote it together pretty quickly afterwards. After that it was a whirlwind of auditioning actors, getting permits and music licenses, and then shooting over the course of five days.

Shot largely in Montauk, NY with Canon 5Ds, Rode NTG2s, a shoulder rig, slider, handmade dolly, a whole bunch of other fun gadgets and a Ford E350, this film marks the first and only time I ever drove a 15-passenger van or got an IMDb credit.
